Extended Cruising manual

This course is not currently offered by Vancouver Squadron

This new course is an excellent course for all boaters who want to spend extended time cruising waters away from their home port. Find out what needs to be considered before heading out.

Formerly called "Offshore Sailing", this course focuses on the challenges of blue-water sailing to maximize the enjoyment, and minimize the risks, for those on board. While it is intended to offer guidance to those who wish to expand their horizons, it is strongly suggested that students continue to expand their knowledge with CPS celestial navigation courses.

Course content: The well-found vessel (boat and sails, etc.); passage planning and the voyage; oceanography and weather instrumentation - including electronics; adverse conditions; check-lists for skipper and boat; plus useful appendices on everything from pre-passage check lists to repair kits to Maritime Mobile Nets.
